F.A.Q.
The phrase "on the fritz" is a common American expression meaning that something is out of order. "The Air -conditioner is on the fritz again". In Australia and England the equivalent saying would be... "it's on the blink".
Its first usage is believed to have been in 1902, however at that time the saying was used more to explain that something (other than machinery) was in a bad way. E.g. The economy is "on the fritz". After numerous names were nominated for our software - all were found to be used by other programs, so we looked for something different - hence Fritz!
The acronym C.M.M.S. is a generic term with stands for Computerised Maintenance Management Software (or System).
