BDE Installation Files
Download: 1. InstallBDE.zip (size 4.25 MB)
Download: 2. Bde510UG.exe (size 571 KB)
Last Updated: 28 July 2002
Description: These files are used to install the Borland Database Engine (BDE). To install the engine correctly run the install.exe first and then run the patch file bde510ug.exe. Once the files have been loaded you will need to run the Bdecfg32.exe file that usually resides in the "c:\program files\borland\common" directory.
The settings that will need to be changed using the config utility are the "netdir" setting which must point the directory in which the data resides. This setting is located by clicking on the paradox driver found on the first page tab - the netdir path should be displayed to the right of the program screen.
The next setting that must be changed is found on the "Alias" page tab. The alias "FacilDir" must be set to the same directory as netdir. (this may already be set during the installation process)
The final setting is found on the "System" page tab. The "Local Share" setting must be set to "True". Failure to set this setting correctly will cause data corruptions.
Once the setting are done, exit the config program - it will then ask you if you want to save the changes. Answer yes, and the initial installation is complete. Now run the Bde510UG.exe which upgrades the BDE to the version required by Facility Exec.
Note: These files are smaller than the original ones you may have a copy of, as they are reduced in size by means of a compression application.
